Question 88 Missing and sounds like its running on 4 cyls cold? HELP!

My 88 started doing this weird thing this weekend. It started after I shut it off at a diner, when I started it back up it was missing and running like crap like it was on 4 cyls, then all at once it smoothed out and ran fine the rest of the day, we put at least 150 miles on it stopping and starting it over and over all day... Then again this morning it did the same thing, you can hear it missing and popping then all at once it smoothed out and was running fine like its a sensor or some of the injectors are not working???? I checked my cap and rotor and cleaned it, its a stock Toyota Denso with about 25,000 miles on it, the plugs are NGK Iridiums with NGK blue wires with about 10,000 miles. Once it stops missing and starts taking gas its fine... Any ideas??? Ive been driving it as my DD for a month now after only putting 5,000 miles on it all last year.... HELP!!!

Check that is not a 22RE, as if it is, you're fine

Could be that the EGR sticks open and then closes eventually after it warms up.
