"YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE!..you're my boy"

(for those of you who don't know, the subject line is a quote from the movie Old School.)
Thanks to HaveBlue's tech write up, all the past threads in this forum, and all the advice from you guys, I was able to fix my starter tonight in only 2 hours. And it cost me a whopping $6.40!!! I went to the dealer and ordered the starter repair kit which contained the power side contact and all the parts with it. Much cheaper than a new starter!!
It was a cramped area to work in but I got it done. When you guys said the body lift would help, you were right. There seemed to be just barely enough room to manuver the starter out between the frame rail, the body and the upper a-arm.

Even though this forum is the cause for excessive spending, it has saved me some serious money in repairs at the same time.

That's why I'm proud to be a contributing member. Support Yotatech!!!
Thanks again guys

On the 2nd gen there is a small panel that can be removed in the inner fender that will give you more room. It is a very tight fit. Even when I had the tranny out there wasn't room to move the starter back once the cables were removed.

Cool news about the starter reapir! It sure feels good to fix something like that yourself and have only spent a few $'s, eh?

Now just imagine pulling the started without that extra inch of clearance
