Vibration when clutch petal is pushed in...

-I've only had this truck for two weeks, previous owner didn't appear to take good care of it, no idea of maintenance history.
-220k on a 2.7 5spd 4runner
-I've mostly driven it around town, but on a recent highway trip i noticed a very odd sound/vibration at higher speeds when i push in the clutch pedal. It's like i'm hitting the rumble strip on the side of the road (but i'm not). Low rumble noise and vibration. This only seems to occur at highway speeds, and only when i depress the pedal to down shift.

I've read 5 pages of threads on vibration, but didn't see anything about rumble when the clutch pedal is pushed in.

thanks for any help anyone can extend.

Pete

I am no mechanic and the advice is free so take it for what it is worth.

I believe you are describing a worn "throwout bearing" and it is a clear sign the clutch is ready for rebuild. Best to get it taken care of before it fails completely and leaves you stranded, unless you have alternative transportation.

Certainly any tranny shop out to be able to confirm. Err make that any transmission shop.

Put your location and vehicle description within your sign on or signature-could be someone right down the road from you will jump in and volunteer a reputable shop or offer to help you do it yourself.

Mine is overkill of course- but then I don't have to redescribe the vehicle each time and folks in metro Denver will often Private message me to tell me "where to go" heh heh

Sounds like a throw out bearing...If you replace the clutch assembly make sure you surface the flywheel and replace the rear main oil seal as well.
