The expensive route is to buy one from your Toyota dealer, if they are still available. This will get you a brand new OEM inclinometer that fits your 4Runner.

The cheaper way is through Ebay. You can find lots of them there, but most are JDMs and usually need some cutting to mount on our left hand drive vehicles, and most of the used ones period are cosmetically in ragged condition.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didnt even think that was an option for US 4runners. Ebay JDM sales are the only ones I have seen.

Theres a bunch on ebay right now, but all for 1st gen runners. I hardly ever see the 2nd gen runner inclinometers. The 2nd gen ones I saw fit right in the stereo bezel, above the stereo IIRC.

I thought that was only an option on 1st gens. Anyone have a picture of a OEM 2nd gen inclinometer??

They look a little different. This isn't where its supposed to mount from the factory, obviously.

You can see it here mounted above the stereo, but the pic is not big at all. This is JDM placement on 2nd gen, and like i said I have never seen on a US 2nd Gen from the factory.

2nd gens were also located on the dash, above the 'glove' box. the dash mount could have been a customization, flamed4x4 did his in a similar fashion.

You say "above glove box", was it located that far over in front of the passenger? Or in the middle like the 1st gen? The above dash mount looks pretty tacky. I couldn't look at that. It would look cool if it was flsh. Face is sweet looking, eh?

Here's mine (got it from cbrsport but I'm not sure if he's in Okinawa anymore):

I looked at pics of JDM surfs and got it as close as possible to the stock location (but on the opposite side obviously)

harleyman, if yours is more squared off, its a 1st gen. slosurfers looks like mine and that is where they are installed, holes already in place under the dash cover. just need to come up from below with three holes. two mounting, one power.

Thanks! It's a useful little gadget, I'm glad I held out till I found the matching blue one. It was pretty easy to install. You have to trim the housing some to match the slope of the dash better.

Yeah, harleyman, I think you have one from a first gen. You'll notice that the vehicle on mine actually looks like a 2nd gen. I'm eventually going to put one from a first gen in my toyota 4wd van, unless I can come up with one of these rare puppies.

ahh, the old space wart! my brother had one of those in 85, it was a pretty decent vehicle. used it to move at least twice, it (cargo van) holds quite a bit if you pack it right.

They hold a ton of stuff, mine's a DD for my tile contractor business. It's always loaded with tools/supplies and still gets over 20mph.
Mines an '89 4wd 5spd, it's an absolute blast to drive.
