buddie needs help with 86 PU

hey guys,
so my friend just bought a 86 pickup a few weeks ago for $500. well last weekend we did a tune-up on it ( sparkplugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor) well we load up the next morning to head to church and make it fine, but on the way home it starts acting up, if you give it anymore than about 1/4 throttle it starts bogging down and doesnt want to run. So after an embarrassing hour of doing 45 on the freeway we get her home and start trying to figure it out to no avail. We got frustrated and let her sit over night the next morning i wake up at 5 and cant get back to sleep so i go out and start working on it, i fire it up and get out the drive way and its fine, but after she warms up she does the same thing, also noticed that it doesnt do it in park, or neutral only when its under a load. This has me confused.. i cant figure it out. what do you guys think is the problem? i checked all the spark plugs they are all tight, along with the wires. so whats going on here? electrical problem?

thanks for the help,
Wade

Um, im not sure.

It could possibly be a clogged cat. since its only doing it under load.
I had my cat. go out and i couldn't do more than 30 mph.

You could try unbolting the first two bolts on the cat (if it has one) and see if it runs better.

I am not sure, but it might be worth a shot

Did it run this way before you did all the tune up stuff?

well no it didnt, but i cant think of what it would be, everything is tight, the rotor is in the exact same position that it was with the old one, all the spark plug wires are in there right spots. i dont know what it could be.

I would double check the vacuum lines around the egr valve. It kinda sounds like the egr valve may be either sticking open or isn't closing when it suppose to. It wouldn't hurt to double check the timing too.

yep, check your timing
make sure you jumper the connector: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri.../FuelPump1.jpg
it's the one, top on the left has a light blue circle around it.
also check the vacuum lines, intake duct from the air filter over.
