The IROK vs. TSL SX Test!!!!

ok guys i had the chance to run both of these tires two separate trips to the same place! this is the perfect time to report on what i experienced when it comes time to make a decision between the two after you know your going to get a swamper!!!!!

First i have to say that they both perform very well in soggy/muddy/grassy trails...

The IROK i felt dug a little deeper in the real soft stuff and really did well going over wet rocks. I didnt need to air down and never had a problem with them not cleaning. On road..well...its a Swamper!

Now the TSL SX on the other hand did very well while getting out of ruts..better than the irok. I felt more slippage over wet rock and logs( not much, but more). This tire did not take as much fender rash as the irok for what ever reason...and in fact i rubbed my fender more w/ the TSL! On road....well again it is a Swamper so you know how loud they are!

In close I felt these are both very good tires but my vote goes to the irok which is what i am running now....but only on the grounds that they had a little bit better performance on the soft trail.

Tire sizes were as follows:
IROK.......36x13.5 r16....85% tread....$260.99
TSL SX....36x12.5 r15....80% tread....$259.99

Please let me know if you have anything to add or have had different experiences!

Ive run both tires... I felt they were the same... plus you were running different sizes all together... width and height.... the groves are going to be bigger on a bigger tire plus they were also an inch wider... that is why you fealt more slippage with the SX

my 2 cents.

Go with what you want.... swampers are swampers.... just stay away from Thornturds....

and boggers.... well strictly mud

Nice review, thanks for taking the time. Wonder if the inch width difference made a difference?

Thornturds are Thornbirds...... Thornbirds are terrible tires, they never should have made them

just wanted to add that, the iroks in that size are almost an inch taller/wider(depending on wheel size of coarse) than the sx's.
the iroks are also directional, and the lugs are cupped!
those two things really help in slippery situations.

those are the main reasons i chose my iroks over any of the tsl's..

oh and, wheres the pics?
