squeak and pop in 2 gen Runner rear suspension

Just put my 94 Runner on the road for a test drive. Driving out the driveway I noticed a lot of noise coming from the rear as I traveled over bumps. The noise was more like a binding or popping noise. This is my first yota with coil suspension. Besides the shocks being shot, what should I be looking for that would make such noise. I pulled over and gave the rear bumper a vertical push/pull to try and replicate the nosie, but nothing. The tire carrier was snug as a bug.

Blast that ferrous rubber. Blast it to hell.

My PCV valve grommet was stone hard when I bought the truck.
