Not the average gearing question
I'm curious as to why stock auto v6s have 4.56 gearing and auto 22res have 4.10s. It seems like it should be the other way around. I mean, wouldn't having 4.56s in an auto-i4 setup yield less stress on the engine? Of course the engineers knew what they were doing, but I don't. Why does the larger engine have a higher gear ratio? For example, stock gearing in a chevy with a 350 is 3.XX,((3.93?)) correct? Yes, the 350 can turn the wheels better, but in theory, shouldn't that be the same for the 3vze compared to the 22re? I'm sure I just don't understand gearing correctly.
This really doesn't matter, I was just thinking about....

im going to say b/c maybe the 4cyl trucks came with smaller tires b/c they were not the "premium" trucks like the ones with v6/auto.
V6/Auto was considered the cats ass back in the day. The new bigger engine and not having to shift with the auto.
I believe the stock size on 4 cyl trucks was 235/75/R15 (~29") and the 6 cyl vehicles got 31-10.50R15s

alright, even if auto 22res came with 4.30 gearing, its still higher than the auto v6s. What about gear ratios within the tranny? Would that effect it? I didn't consider tire sizes, either. I need to quit posting at 3 am

At any rate, it's marked on the door sticker and a manual checked confirmed it on mine
