Ok... I've been reading all the lift threads I can find (there are tons) and now I'm very confused.

I am looking to get about a true 2" lift. I want to be able to run 31-32's. And I won't be doing any super serious off roading. Just a lot of 2 track trails and such.

I read about just spacers, spacers and springs, and an "all coil lift" etc... Then I read how not to use spacers with certain coils etc...

Out of all of this I like the TRD Tundra coils idea. So I am thinking about this: TRD Tundra coils up front & 2" Downey rear springs (both ends stock shocks/struts for now). Will this get me there and give an even lift? Or would I need to add spacers/top plates to either end? I read when it says 2" or 3" lift it usually doesn't lift it that much in reality and I have read some say they have 1" more lift in the rear. Why is this? Is it to off set the factory sagg in the rear? So should I get 3" Downey springs?

OR... will this get me there on it's own and be a lot simpler? This...

I'm sorry to ask this, I know everyone hates the same Q's over and over. I know I will hear from the "use the search police", but I have been and am more confused than I was to start.

a spacer kit is the cheapest easiest way to go.. daystar offers a 2.5" poly kit for your 4runner for about 195 i believe.. and thats all four springs, that will pretty much take care of it, youll be able to fit 33s on it.. i did a spring lift and bilsteins all the way round with landcruiser springs in the rear for a softer off road ride.... but your idea is great too i <3 TRD haha

 

So I'm getting closer to figuring it out. But could someone who knows clear up if the TRD Tundra springs will give it a true 2" lift by themselves?

If you're only looking to clear a slightly larger tire, have you considered a simple BL? Way easier install...

Tundra TRDs will give you ~1.75". Old Man Emu 890s will give you about 2.5" in back. My 890s setteled to ~2" - 2.25".

I didn't go with spacers because my rear springs had really sagged. I'm glad I didn't go with spacers. If your springs are in good shape (the truck sits level/you like its attitude) and you don't wheel too extreme then spacers may be the way to go.

I'm not a big fan of of body lifts. For a small 2"-3" lift I would go with springs.

Different year 4runners (I assume we are talking about a 4runner) sit higher from the factory (99s are taller than most, 02s are about the shortest) Therefor the same spring on a 99 is not going to raise the truck as much as the same spring on an 02. The final height of both will be close.
