wet starters and solenoids

have any of you had problems with your starters or solenoids after they get wet, this is the third starter in a year i had to replace, i think rust and corrosion is the culprit ?, is it some way to stop it from getting wet like electric grease or something. thanks.

What exactly is going out on the starters? I've never had a problem with the stock Denso starter on my '85, I think it is original. Has been under water a more than a few times over the years.

At least on the OEM (Denso) starters, there is a drain tube on the bottom side of the solenoid to let any water that does get in drain out. If yours has a drain tube, make sure it is not clogged and if no drain, consider getting a used Denso starter from a junkyard and swap that in.
