today when i was rotating my tires i noticed that the rear tires are worn more on the inside than the outside. is there anything else that could cause this?

 

Your axle is definitely NOT bent. I don't think it is possible to even drive normally with a bent rear axle...lol

Isn't it too much toe-in? Or something like that. Not sure if it can be adjusted or not (doubt it)

haha it is possoble to drive with a bent axle because my dads tacoma had a badly bent inner axle and it drove normal, didnt shake at all but we would have people oftenly tell us to stop because our wheel is going to fall off...

 

Oh...I thought you were talking about bending the whole axle including the housing. lol. I bet that was pretty funny!

well i have heard about toyota SFA housing being bent that is why i was wondering.

 

It's entirely possible, but not likely, but not impossible. It would only take a degree of 'bend' or more likely, worn bearings.

 

bending both the axles and the housing requires high amounts of torque... it is possible tho, but i imagine that a bent axle or housing would be incredible obvious to you...

maybe the wheel bearings?

I think bending the housing would take a lot of force, but bending the semi-floating axle shafts is not too hard. I have 6 of them all bent to one degree or another. However, that won't cause that sort of tire wear. Rather it makes the rear wheel wobble and you can feel a little vibration from the rear end at speed. Mine is not too bad unless both bent axle shafts get into phase and the wobbles combine, then it is very noticeable.

 

where would these bearings be? are they the bearings that are at the end of the inner axle? next to the or even attatched to the hub with the studs on it?

Cubuff4Runner bent a rear 96 4Runner E-locked rear housing this summer. He ended up swapping to an IFS rear axle and converted it to a full floater. IFS housing are way cheaper to replace than the E-locker housing

He really didn't come down that hard on it. His rig probably weighs over 5K though

 

Molly bent the crap out of her housing ... and then it got bent worse when the axle broke and the wheel came off!

If you 'wheel hard, bending the housing isn't unheard of.

Did he have to run hubs on the rear axel??
ETA- As in locking hubs, like the front drive...

 

You can run drive flanges but he chose to run stock Aisin hubs from a solid axle. The full floater kit works great and changing rear shafts or pulling a 3rd member is nice and easy!

 

a long time ago i bent an rear axel on a ford ranger, icy roads someone pulled out in front of me i swerved missed them and went into an 360 and a curb stopped my spinning.

 

if it were not possible to bend one, would people have been welding gussets to them for decades now?

it's possible, but unless you're bashing the thing against rocks, or jumping it, I highly doubt that the axle housing, or one both of the axel shafts for that matter, are bent. more than likely wheel or axel bearings as mentioned already...

 

Years ago (yeah I'm old) a lot of 4wheeler put axle trusses on there 4x4's, I never understood what they where doing to there trucks that could posiibly bend an axle housing. I tried and tried with my 74 K5 Blazer, I bent rims, shreded sheet metal but no matter how hard I tried they wouldn't bend.

 

hehe... grandpa's old 67 nova pushing 600 hp decided to eat a couple 10 bolt axleshafts till he got a ford 9 incher...

 

mine is doing the same thing whith the tires!!!!! but i do wheel hard,,,,
