Sonoran Steel shackle hangers installed (write up)

Guys,

Not much of a write up like the sound deading one, but the instructions are definitely more clear (haha, Steve). I've also included a little section on how to buy the right shackle.

I must say these pups are built to last. Check out my write up. Lots of pics too:

Nice work Bob.

Steve, I don't suppose you're having a clearance, 50% off, final liquidation sale on your remaining shackles are you?

Well Bob, I might have to say...no!

But, I will trade you for the helix power toilet. How does that sound?

Just an FYI, I don't know what Steve charges for his, but I found these on the web for 30 each, they look like they'd do the trick.

Helix Power Toilet? Hmm........no thanks.

Mad: i don't know about the ones you're talking about, but these shackle hangers are solid through the hanger part (the part w/ the eyelet). I think it must've taken ol' Steve quite a bit of time to drill through an inch of metal.

Anyways, of course there are other options, but for me, I got lucky and have some quality shackle hangers under my baby.

Bob

Sorry, forgot to paste in the link- these are not bolt-on, have to be welded onto the frame.

Bob/Others,

This is a reply to an older thread I found while doing some searching on shackle hangers. I want to do the mod that Bob did in that nice write-up but I cannot find out where to buy the shackle hangers (he said Steve does not make them any more, and the link provided above to spydercustoms does not show anything about them). Are these available anywhere or are you looking at a custom fab to get the pieces made? Thanks

scroll down on the poison spyder page to "D-Shackle mounts" its the third from the very bottom on the left column. I think thats what he saw back then. RockStomper makes those as well, but those need to be welded onto something sturdy. It's not just a bolt on application like steve's.

I found the link you mentioned, and I see that those are a weld-on application also. I was looking for bolt-on, but I'll do weld-on if necessary.

Not that I know him or anything but, have you actually spoken with Steve? If you check his web site it looks like he's still making his shackle hangars:

Glad to see this come back to life. I'd like to hang a couple shackles in back and exit the receiver all together. I wonder if they'll bolt on to a 4th gen. Perhaps even a group buy possibility???

mmm...Sonoran Steel website says no fit on the 4th gens
I'll PM SS and see if there are any changes planned.

Hmmm...I guess SS meant no fit on the front, but as it turns out, on my 2004 they WILL fit in back, but on the right-side framerail I'd need to reroute the exhaust a small bit. I think this would be a good change over to hang two hangers and remove the receiver altogether (I don't tow), as my existing receiver hitch/shackle hanger sticks way out like an appendage.
