??? Rod Cap Removal ??

I've disassembled the engine, except the pistions. I can not get the rod caps to come off the bolts. Yes I have removed the hex nuts, yes I have lightly rapped them with a rubber mallet. Still the caps will not budge.

Is there a trick to prying them off or a prayer I should say? I have read several manuals nothing helped.

(I searched past threads and nobody else seems to have had an issue)

Thanks

put a nut on the stud in the rod, put a socket over the nut on the stud in the rod, put an extension into the socket over the nut on the stud in the rod, tap the extension which is over the nut on the stud in the rod with a mallet.

or... have you tried turning the crankshaft... thus pulling on the cap that is stuck on the studs in the rod?

Mine usually just wiggled free. Except for the one that had the spun bearing. That one took a lot more force during the wiggling process.

All wonderful ideas.. I like turning the crankshaft.

The rubber mallet I was using just was bouncing off and didn't think I had a plactic one. But I looked and looked and all of the sudden one appeared.

Here is a picture of it.

The caps are coming off now
