my first REAR bumper build

So, im new to the toyota world, have loved um for along time thanks to a near death accidnet, and eventualy got rid of my subaru 2.5 for one. im a 20year old welding college student, who loves to fab, so heres my frist thing that ive built for myself at least.

It took about a day to do, i used the stock toyota mounts and alterd then a little to make it work, and put in two lights that are wired to my reverse lights. yes i know the D-rings are huge but thats all the local auto store had, and i do know that its not perfectly square, one of the pieces moved a little on my as i was tacking it togother, i had it clamped to the table but it still manged to up. but over all i love it. i got it powdercoated for like 45$ through a friend. appanretly its the same paint they use on sandrail frames.

let me know what u guys think! -Eric

Go to Burn Brothers or Jubitz truck stop if your around Portland or any truckstop on 5 if not and get some of them rubber gasket's used on truck trailers for the back up lights and it will fit them in there alot better plus give you a complete custom look to the bumper other then that it's pretty nice for a first time build

Looks like a great first bumper and PC came out very nice. The D-rings and back up lights are great features to have incorporated.

Great job!

Awesome job. My welding looks like text book booger welds so I leave it to my friends...I think I need to try again. I really like what you came up with, robust, functional and simple. I like Olharleyman's suggestion about getting a rubber gasket to put around the back up lights, it would just finish it off...Best of luck in your educational pursuits...

What part of Oregon are you in? Rowdy235 is organizing the 2nd annual Oregon YT get together out at Brown's Camp OHV park next summer. Fingers are cross my '81 be ready by then...
