Should I do it?

I just got an offer to trade my 1985 Pickup for a 1993 T-100.

My pickup is pretty rusty, doesn't run, is higher mileage, but is the 4 cyl, 5 speed, 4x4 combo.

The T100 is the 3.0 litre V6, (ewww), but is a 5 speed as well. It runs, drives, and has passed our provincial safety inspection within the last year. The 4x4 works flawlessly, but there is some slight rust on the box. It's a Regular cab, long box. It also has newer 31" BFG A/T tires on it.

I'm seriously debating doing this, but I'm not sure what I want more. I do like the idea of the older pickups with the solid axle, but the fact that this T-100 has a safety appeals to me. The only thing that's holding me back is the fact that is has the 3.0 V6. I've heard a nights worth of horror stories about this motor, but I am pretty mechanically inclined, so if something does go wrong, I can fix it myself.

What would you do?

Ideally, that is what I would love to do. However, I don't exactly have an abundance of money right now, so I'd be looking at more of a second daily driver.

I would stick/go with the one you enjoy driving more. Me, I like small trucks. Some like bigger trucks. I am sure the T-100 can't be much bigger than a new tacoma.

I can put up with a lot of hassle if I like driving the truck.

x2, there's been so much of this with my current truck.
But its pretty and it gets me there.....

And OP, even if you dont have alot of money..save up 150 each paycheck...2 1/2 months you can have a new engine...then if you want and the 3.0 is still going strong you can rebuild it...

i would stick with the 85. my dd is an 84 pickup and i wouldnt have it any other way!
they are both underpowered pickups so it comes down to the fun, pleausre, and wheelability of an 85 vs... comfort?
but ultimately i agree with the previous post, you shoudl go with what you enjoy driving the most

or you could take the t100 which is easily worth more than a non running 85 and sell it, then go and buy exactly what you want whatever that may be
