Purpose of a kick out on sliders
also what is the purpose of a HI-Lift jack
sorry to sound like a newb

 

I think that theory is that they will help push the truck away from an obstacle when it slides along to prevent quarter panel damage. I have them on my '81 and like them...

High Lift can allows you to lift the truck in situations where you cannot get a traditional stock jack under your axle, like deep sand, mud etc. Sliders give you a good point to jack from..

It is a good idea to have a secure point on the front, rear and both sides to lift from with a high lift. And make sure you are jacking safely. You can't see it in this picture but the DS wheels are chocked...

Hi Lift jacks can also be used like a come along, slow but it works

 

The HI LIFT is for trucks that are above stock height with large or over sized tires and lifts and the kick outs are for as described above

 

sorry i should been more clear i meant how is it used off road for recovery when your stuck

 

Oh and the Handle of a Hi Lift jack works great to sleave a bend/broken Tie Rod

 

Many uses... mostly used to raise the vehicle and stack rocks. Can even raise the vehicle and shift it's position right or left, but that's more dangerous.

Some can use it as a winch (very slow).

Can be used to knock the tire bead off the rim, move obstacles, bend things that shouldn't be bent.... imagination and safety are key.

I have yet to use a hi-lift buy a hi-lift yet, so I have no real world experience, but I was told not to use a hi-lift on concrete or cement. Since the base doesn't move like a floor jack it could slip out of under your truck and you can get seriously hurt. Is it true?

 

yah they can shoot out like any jack. specialy once there at the top one nudge and bam . why you never wanna jack in front of them if you can help it.

 

the sliders make good jacking points and your not having to get under the truck to jack it up.
i have a kick out on my sliders aswell.

 

hilifts are also good for unsticking, if you get flexed out or hi centered, you can lift yer truck off the ground, place rocks under yer tire and bingo, not hi centered anymore. some jeepers use hilifts on the front bumper or hood to let people at the mall know they're badass hardcore wheelers.

Notice the frame rail is sitting on a stump, so i lifted the truck up with my hilift and stuck some rocks under there and drove away

As for the kickouts, i didnt know the purpose either but i always liked the way they look.

 

I personally don't like the kickouts. I don't care about rock vs. body damage so keeping the rocks off of the body isn't a big deal for me. I already get hung up on on the straight sliders enough, I couldn't imagine having a big bump that rock has to now slide over.
