few questions on wiring up tow dolly

hi yotatech
i recently purchased a tow dolly to tow around my trail rig with my hilux surf..
it has a 4 round connector...
my surf has no tow wiring.....

my old trail rig has a 4 flat connector which i could take off and reuse but i was wondering if i could just buy a kit that has a 4 round connecter and integrated box all in one???

i wanna wire it safe, and right the first time..
or should i reuse my flat 4 and get an adapter to 4 round?

I believe the answer to your question is that you have several options. There is no difference (other than shape) in the 4 pole round and 4 pole flat connectors. So you could either reuse the flat from your old tow vehicle and get an adapter or you could just get the 4 pole round for your new tow vehicle. www.etrailer.com has everything you could ever want for trailer hookups. If you are keeping the old tow rig around, it might be a good idea to leave the flat connector alone, buy the proper round one for your new vehicle and if you ever have to tow with the old you can buy the round to flat adapter.

Right now, the IN thing is to go for the large 7 pin connector that is being used for the big trailers.
Its becoming very popular and most builders are switching to it.
I have been using it on my trailer, and doing repairs for fleets with it. As well, if you get stuck some where and have to move the trailer to another vehicle, you are using a common connector.
