87 4Runner - clutch and reman engine

The title says it all -

Excuse my complete ignorance here - Toyota newb:

I am in need of a new clutch and possibly a drop in engine. Ideally Id like to find a cheap reman as I dont have the time or garage to complete a rebuild.

What kind of clutches are you guys running?

I appreciate any and all suggestions. Thx.

Clutch: Toyota or Marlin
Engine: lots of remand engines out there, I haven't used any personally so hopefully somebody else will chime in.

Talk to Engine Builder. You can google them. I used them for most of the parts on my 86 rebuild. They have a great reputation and are more than willing to give phone advice. You can buy a clutch/pressure plate/ pilot bearing/ throwout bearing set as a kit.

Thanks guys for taking the time to answer my question.

I guess engine options are pretty limited.

Thats crazy go get a clutch at your local auto store if your on a budget and there like $120 for everything. It takes a day to put it in but that beats paying up the ass in labor.

Oregon Engine Rebuilders Inc. was established in 1983 and remanufactures all types of engines for automotive, light truck, industrial and marine applications. OERI car and light truck engines come with a LIFE TIME UNLIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTEE to the original buyer. As long as you own your vehicle, we will stand behind our product. If you have any problem with the motor, just return it to our shop and we will repair it free of charge, as long as it has not been abused, no matter how many miles have been put on it! This kind of offer is unheard of in the industry and the only exception is industrial, commercial or marine units.

In addition, we are offering an exclusive 30-DAY SATISFACTION GUARANTEE. If you are not 100% satisfied with our product, after installing it and driving it - assuming it has not been abused - return it to OERI and we will refund to you 100% of the purchase price!

The following is a list of the performance options installed in this "SUPER-STOCK WORKS" long block engine: New hypereutectic 9.7:1 pistons and wrist-pins, over-sized IN&EX swirl-polished valves, RV or torque Crane cam shaft with 425/IN and 440/EX lift, and a steel chain guide for the slack side. On top of all that, a NEW, (not remanufactured) heavy casting head, new timing cover and a full set of gaskets![/

All OERI engines are stripped to a bare block, hot-tanked, and re-machined bringing every surface and every tolerance back to original specifications through the use of state-of-the-art Sunnen equipment.

OERI engines are sold on a direct exchange basis. Unless you ship your engine to us first, you will be charged a core-charge of $350 in addition to the purchase price until the rebuildable core is returned to us. Shipping will run between $125-$225 one way, Hawaii included and just a little more for Alaska. The cost for the return freight will come out of the core-charge so you do not have to pay for it up front. If you have any questions e-mail us at OregonEngines@verizon.net., call 503-668-7155, or write us at Oregon Engine Rebuilders Inc. 20740 S.E.Firwood Rd. Sandy OR. 97055.
