so i just bought myself an 88 4runner that is mostly stock with a new motor, new clutch, new radiator, new battery, nice maint, pretty good interior, and almost no noticible rust. price.......... $3300. how'd i do??

also i was thining about getting a 4" procomp lift with some 32's (guy at 4wheel parts said he could get me all of that with new rims for $3200 with install, does that sounds like a deal?)

well then where are you at? did you check compression? but i think that might be a good deal with as many new parts as you say it has and i have an 87

as for the lift that might just be worth it with new rims and tyres and installed out the door

 

$3200 for wheels and a lift sounds steep to me, but maybe not. I'm not sure what the going rate for labor is since I do all mine myself.

That would put you at 6500 for an 87 runner that has some rust. For that price it should be already built (lift, tires, lockers, ect.) and no rust. You dont need 4inches of lift for 32's. Search around for a better price on the lift. That is not a good deal.

I have to agree here. I got my Procomp lift off ebay for $400 bucks including shocks (crappy procomp shocks) brand new. My tires and rims were under $900 and I went with 33x12.5R15. That price can be beat with some shopping around. Had the 4:88 gears done for $1000 including a limited slip in the rear. I opted out of lockers as it's still driven on the street.

 

Yeah that's way too expensive! But it would help if you let us knew what you wanted...I'm guessing you're just going for looks? 32's would look small on a 4 inch lift anyway, you can fit 32's stock height.

 

for 3200$ you should straight axle that beast. And get some wheels and tire s off craigslist.com. Put a locker or somethin in the rear. lifts dont do much except look cool unless you you got a locker.
Not a bad deal on the runner.

 

4Wheel Parts is the last place I'd ever deal with. I've heard of no satisfied customers, and tonnes of people saying that they don't stand behind their products.

 

Yeah. Look on craigslist. I swear, every week I see a 4" bracket lift for under 350 bucks on there.

Be aware your truck is gonna be SLOW after you stick those big tires on there

 

thanks guys, since i bought the truck itself off of craigs list i might as well get the mods off of there too . and the rust on this thing is soo minimal it was barely worth mentioning.

 

Like others have said that price is very steep. What kind of wheeling are looking to doing...trails...rocks.. ect..ect.. Good luck with you decision.

 

im not looking for anything too extreme, mostly looks, but i do have friends with jeeps and do plan on doing some occasional off-roading and dont want to be too limited in what i can do

 

and if im getting bigger tires is it absolutely necissary to get new wheels?

 

It's not nec to get new rims, do you like the look of the rims that are on there? And call some of the off-road shops in the area, if you really wanna lift. And depending on the size of the tire you wanna run, I'd regear before buying the lift. But thats just my opinion.

 

naw you dont have to get new wheels with tires.. depending on your current wheel size you may be limited on tire choices though.. and please dont waste your time a 4wheelparts.. if you cant do the lift your self i would look for a more specialized 4x4 shop in your area that does more then flip through catalouges all day and are more concearned about cosmetics then quality, reliability and useability. get some pics up of that beast, lets see it!

i have 323s on my stock runner no lift.. get a 1 inch body lift if you want and some 32s on new rims to look nice... and fix the rust and get it krown oil sprayed!

 

fine take the 3grand and get a 3inch tg sas kit and find cheap $40 rims and good tires

 

I think a set of bj spacers and a matching set of shackles for the rear to fit 32's and regear sounds like all you need for what it sounds like you are going to get into.
