As the title says I've got an 85 4runner and the idea is to keep it real low with 37" MTR's locked up front and rear with some armor and have some fun. Here is what I've done so far.

Stock


No lift on 37's with fenders cut


Front axle moved up 2"

Not really. That's the great thing about having a rig your not scared to use the cutting wheel on. I still have to cut out the inner fender a little more but I'll give updates when I figure out what I'm doing for sure.

 

Looks good, but I bet thefirst time you flex it those tires are going to destroy your fenders.

 

I've already flexed it and I assure you there is nothing there for those tires to destroy but thanks for your concern

 

That's what bump stops are for.

 

So what did you do about the steering linkage?

 

Made a new one pretty easy really

 

hmm not really feeling it man, but to each his own. just my opinion, but i think it would look great with about 3-4 in of lift.

 

That defeats the whole purpose of his idea.

 

Yeah I know what you mean everyone has their own style. I personally am looking to do something different than anyone else.

 

You should figure out a way to tub the inner fender wells and maybe a small exo.

That is the best way to do it. It'd be even more stable on some wider axles, but thats more cash.

What are you talking about? I had the same Idea as the OP (big tires, small lift, and keeping center of gravity low) but once I added my small lift I wanted more! I want to be like all of the big Chevy's that I can walk under!

I REALLY like it. I think some cut wide fiberglass fenders would make it look sick!

 

wow that looks rediculous i like it! that inspires me to go for 35's on my little lift which is in the mail

 

maybe you would want to consider the ome lift, its just 2" but it will be strong and give you a little more travel.
