Drilling out rivets and repairing the holes

Hello again, I am asking for some advice regarding body work. The previous owner of my truck installed diamond plating along the lower body. It is a six inch strip that spans the entire side of the truck -- front quarterpanel, door, bed and rear quarterpanel. It is attached by very small rivets every six inches or so, each rivet head is smaller than a pencil eraser. There will be approximately 15 very small holes on each side of the truck when I remove the rivets, so about 30 small holes total.

My question is about the repair procedure for filling these holes. From what I understand, the best way to repair the holes would be to weld a small amount of metal and grind it down, then apply a small amount of matching paint, then buff and wax. I don't have access to a welding machine and do not want to pay to have this procedure done. What other options do I have for repairing the holes and preventing rust? I have heard that applying a small dab of JBWeld would work, but I am inquiring here to seek your advice.

Thanks for your help!

Are the holes rusting at all?

If not, a little fiberglass in the hole, sanded smooth, and you're good.
