How can you tell if your Runner came keyless?

I bought a remote on Ebay. Did some extensive research on how to program it. No luck. I thought all 3rd gens came with the keyless system? Am I wrong?

I don't know about the 4 runners. I Bought a used Tundra that I hoped had keyless entry. I did like you did and found a FOB on E-bay. Before I bid on it, I called the parts dept. at a local dealership and gave them my VIN#. They told me that I in fact did not have keyless entry.

Call the dealership and give them your VIN#, they should be able to tell you.

Ok cool! Thanks for the very obvious tip

I believe the 96-98s had the keyless box under the driver's seat. My truck doesn't have it, but it's a '00.

if you got keys then it wasnt keyless

did you lock and unlock the door 3X standing on your head spinning teacups?
the instructions are very specific and have to be followed closely.

did you get the correct fob? LOCK/UNLOCK/R WINDOW - panic on back

Yeah, the seller on ebay told me it was working just fine. I may just get a new set, just to make sure though.

What I would notice is after doing the programming, the door locks cycle twice and I've read it should only cycle once. That must have something to do with my problem I think.
