does anyone have a write-up of the deckplate mod for the second generation runner or is it the same as the 3rd gen write-up

I don't think you can do the deckplate on the 2nd Gen. You can drill it out like UKMyers did though...

Or just completely remove the bottom altogether like a friend of his did. If I were doing it I would be a bit more agressive with the hole drilling......remember we want max air flow.

Word of caution: There is no easy way to cover the holes if you go muddin"

Couldn't you guys just use a whole bunch of rubber stoppers?
I know it sounds ridiculous but if you really ever need it as airtight as possible...

I just busted out the side closest to the fender on my air box, that way, if I do get crap sprayed in the engine bay, it won't get to the filter THAT easy.

Who... me?

Been running it like that for 2 and a half years with still no problems. Then again, I don't hit mud holes at 60 mph either.

Cebby, I consider what I did the equivalent of the FIPK. I really don't see how an FIPK could be any better. Except maybe a little "ram air" from having the filter faced forward. But I doubt that accounts for much of anything.
