2 problems-mysetery noise and electrical

My first issue is that after taking off the bed and rewiring tailights I suddenly lost dash lights, taillights (brakes, backups, directionals work), and my clock reset. All fuses are good.

Second issue is that between 2000 rpm and 2500 rpm the engine pings. I sounds like its coming from inside valve cover and sounds like BB's bouncing around. Its been doing it all summer.

Any help is appreciated!!!!

my uneducated guess for the first issue would be a problem with the clearance/running lights' wiring.
the second problem could be your timing needs turned back a bit. when do you notice it happening- just cruising, light acceleration, hard acceleration?

I notice the noise at all engine operating conditions. Hard accel, light accel and at idle.

As for the wiring I'll check my connections again. I dont know why it would mess with the dash lights though.

The tail light fuse feeds power to the dash back lights as well, so all those things are on the same circuit.

So it appears your timing is off, probably set without jumpering the terminals in the diagnostic test conenctor.
