Trial run of the FZJ... Mark Twain, Date TBD

Well, I'd like to do a pansy trial run of the Land Cruiser to see how it all works. Obviously nothing that will dent or damage the body... but a decent trail ride is in order... Also, because I dont currently have a trailer, I will drive it to go wheelin, and because I dont need anything extremely hard, Mark Twain/Cassville area it is.

I'm thinkin this coming weekend or the weekend following for the trip, but I dont want to go alone, so the date will depend on if anyone else can come... Also thinking about doing an overnight camp as well, but I'm open to anything. Any takers?

Looks like Sept 13th at Disney, not MT.

Discussion over at TTORA: http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110607

Looks like a stock LX450 may be put up against my FZJ... should be interesting.

I have a weeding to go to or I'd consider it. I'll probably just wait for rocktoberfest.

I wish I had something to trailer my rig with... It's been so touchy lately I don't feel comfortable driving it anywhere too far from home right now. Much less beating on it.

Need to turn it into a dedicated trail rig... and soon!

Well, all in all the cruiser did awesome. From what I can figure it will make it around 85 to 90% of the places my built 87 would go. The hillclimb at disney that kept breaking my inner axle shafts, it just walked right up without even slipping a tire, and it was RAINING!

The trip did what I wanted, it allowed me to see what the cruiser would do and identify areas to fix. I need to pop the wheels off and bend back the bottom of the dust shields, on the trip they held a couple rocks hostage until some abrubt reverse and forward manuevers removed them. Also from the pics you can see in stock form this thing has a tendency to drag butt. It going to get a little lift and some larger tires to help, but I think some exhaust work and a revised rear bumper that you wont mind dragging will make the largest improvement. I managed to take it plenty of places and it did awesome. I also realized how spoiled I am now with e-lockers front and rear... it makes wheelin a breeze. Soon as you get done with an obstacle, unlock the front and it turns great... if you're going between obstacles unlock the rear too and it returns to its refined, mild mannered self.

I've also decided I may not lift it 6" to fit the 37"s, rather just enough to clear 35 or 36 skinnies (11.5 to 12.5). But first I'm really looking forward to getting some armor on it and goin again!

Thanks, and I am too... I love it and it really amazes me in its capability in relatively stock form.

Well, if you bash in the lower door/rocker it would justify running at the Cruiser, sliding over the hood and jumping in through the window... Dukes style
