I'm fixing to drop $1,500 on tires and wheels can i fit 33"/12.50R18 on a 02 4-runner with a 3" front coil spacer lift and 2" rear OME coils, and 2" body i have 285's now but will these fit, i want bigger, the wheels are 18x9's with 5" of backspaceing.

 

Yes, they should fit. I ran 33" tires on my 2000 with just a spacer lift and it fit great.

Are you going for the pre-runner look where the front is higher than the rear?

 

ya im trying to go for that look because i wont be offroading, but they should fit with a 5" backspaceing wright.

 

5"bs is to much for the toyota with that size tire. you need more like a 4.5-4" bs. i would go with the 4" to avoid any rubbing on the inside of the tire.

5"bs is more along the lines of a full size truck, gm, ford, dodge.

 

If my understanding is correct, 285's and 33's are pretty much the same size tire. Unless you're asking more about back spacing. I'm currently running the 285's on my 96 4runner with SS 1.2 lift with minor rubbing when I turn and compress the front.

 

ya im concerned with backspacing than anything because i dont want them to rub but i should be all wright running 12.50's with 4" of back spacing wright, the new tires im buying are toyo mt's and 18x8 rims moto metal wheels.

you should be fine with the lift, 33" tires, 8" wheels, and 4"bs

 

I think that setup will work, but I wouldn't do a spacer lift. Originally had the 2.5" Daystar setup front and back. Over time, the spacers cause the stock coils to sag. My rig sagged to ~1" of lift with the Daystars.

Do it right the first time and get coils all around. Possibly consider the OME 882's for the front, which gave me right at 3" from stock.

 

I am because those coil spacer's suck it was a wast of money, im going with the 882 OME 3" coils in the front from toytec, i already have the lift coils in the rear. did it even your ride out?

 

by "OEM" coils don't you mean OME, there is definitely a big difference between what you say. most people would agree that stock backspacing is 4.75"-5". which is what you're going with. but if you plan to run a full 12.5 width tire then you'll most likely have rubbing issues as far as the upper control arm hitting the sidewall. which would require a rim with less backspacing (like 4") to stick the tires out farther giving it a wider stance. with a 2" body lift you'll most likely only rub on the frame at full steering lock.

 

I am pretty sure it will rub the control arms. My 10 inch rims have a 4" BS and a 12.5" wide tire and they are about 1" away from the control arms, and in your case they would basically be constantly rubbing the arms.

 

The only way of knowing for sure is to try the combo. Go to a good tire shop and tell them that you need to try one before you buy. Make sure you turn the front, lock to lock. They shouldn't have a problem with that. BUT... you will not know if they will rub when flexing offroad. It sounds like you aren't going to offroad so there shouldn't be a problem. I know that there are alot of people running 33s offroad on stock wheels.

 

But are they 12.50's?

 

The 882's brought the front up to ~3" of lift for my rig, which leveled it out pretty well with the LC's in the rear. Be sure to do the diff drop and you'll be golden. Good luck!

 

yes sorry i met OME coils not OEM typo. So it's a definite that with the 3" coils in the front and the 2" coils in the rear with 1"-2" body ill be fine running 33"/12.50R18 the rims are 18X8's with 4" backspacing. And ill will not be going offroad probably not much all. I just want to make sure with your guy's say before i drop $1,700 on wheels and tires.

 

That wide of a tire on an 8" wide rim? I would still worry that you would rub/not be able to turn full lock on the front wheels. I would think there is a good chance of rubbing.
