writeup done - Hella FF75s in TJM T-15

I finished the writeup for installing Hella FF75s in a TJM T-15 bumper this morning. It's a bit wordy, but I wanted to give people a good idea of what was involved with this modification.

Here's the writeup

Looks really good, I was missing my fog lamps. Couple of quick questions though:

1. Where did you pick the sockets up from?
2. where did you order the hellas from? and how much?
3. where did you order the TJM brackets from?

thanks!

1. Where did you pick the sockets up from? - AutoZone, they were like $4 ea I think.
2. where did you order the hellas from? and how much? - $70 from 4x4Connection
3. where did you order the TJM brackets from? - Any TJM distributor can get them for you. I got mine from 4x4Connection for $75.

Looking good. Questio though- what's the DOT regulations in regards to turn signals? With your clear corners that you have, do you have a colored bulb?

In NY, turn signals have to flash orange. Right now, I have clear bulbs behind clear lenses. Cops won't stop me, but it won't pass inspection. I'm going to be buying a set of orange LED bulbs soon - look clear when not on, but light up orange. That will give me the clean look and the orange lights so I will pass inspection.

I never thought about inspection. I have the same turn signal set up. I guess I will just switch my lights out b4 my next inspection. They take like 3 minutes to do.

Another Question????

Okay, I think I am going to do the rewiring of the OEM corner lamps so they can act as both turn signals and parking lights.

My question is How Can I then make the TJM Bumper Lights turn on all the time when the Parking ligts are on? I am not planning on putting after market corner lights on the TJM Bumper. I want to stick with orange TJM lens.

Its probably just a matter of identifying the wire in the wire harness used for parking lights, and splicing that into the positive wire for the TJM oranges. With a wire tester, you'd just have test wires until you figured out which one had current when the parking lights are on. I'm no electrical expert though...

You'll have to wire the corner lamps just like I did in my writeup. Then for the orange bumper parking lamps, you'll have to wire those into the parking lamp wire that runs to the corner lamps.

I'm planning on doing this some time later. What I want to do is put the FF75 on the TJM and wire it up to my existing foglight wiring which is controlled by the light stalk. Question is, if I have to cut the wire harness for the factory fogs and install the harness for the Hella FF75, does it matter which wire gets connected to the harness? Which one is positive and which is negative. I want to do it this way so I can still utilize the dash switch when I mount the Hella 500 I just ordered. Just ordered them from 4x4 connection.
