Please help with wheels!!!

ok so i havent been here in awhile but i decided to start modding the 4runner again. i have 285/75/16 on my stock 16x7's. i want to get new wheels but want to get something more fancy than LC's. i want a black wheel with a chrome lip or just with chrome on it. so i order the procomp 8179's in a 16x8 with a 4" backspace and finally get them today just to find out that the center of the wheel doesnt fit over the black dust cap that covers the pin and 35mm nut. so nonetheless the wheels dont fit, this may sound dumb and noobish but how do i know if they are going to fit before i order them. can anyone show me or help me pick out some black and chrome wheels that will actually fit????? thanks

That is good to know, as I was considering the exact same rims. Not sure if it makes a difference, but did you order the hub centric or lug centric version?

The part number for the hub centric is 8179-6838.
The part number for the lug centric is 8179-6883.

I think we need to order the lug centric version. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,

Those morons sent you the Chevy hub-centric wheels. The EXACT SAME THING happened to me, courtesy of the idiots at sportztrailers.com. You didn't happen to buy the wheels from them did you? They have horrible, I mean HORRIBLE customer service. They tried to blame it all on me, even after I showed them printed proof it was their mistake. I'm still a bit bitter about the subject.

Anyways, I had to take my tires off the wheels, then take the wheels to a milling shop and had them re-bore the hub. Cost me about $100 plus tire mounting/dismounting.

If the store won't work with you, that's what you will have to do to make them fit.

Thanks,
You definitely DO NOT want hub centric rims for your Runner. The hub centric are specifically for the Chevy models. My friend Ray, who is the store manager at 4Wheel Parts confirmed this for me.

Hope this helps.
