Wet Traction with BFG T/A KO's?
So I'm looking for some opinions on wet traction capability with BFGoodrich T/A KO's. Anyone who has had them, or currently have them on your truck, how do they handle in the rain? Do they resist hydroplaning or do you feel like a skipping rock?
Would you recommend them?
We *finally* had some rain today and I noticed my Goodyear Tracker 2's aren't very good in the wet anymore due to less tread. We don't get rain here very often, but when we do it's usually flash flood type of stuff.
Would you recommend them?

My 33x10.50s worked well for about 80% of the tread life. Once they wore down through the siping, they were a little slippery in the rain, mainly spinning while pulling away from a stop. Did not see any hydroplaning issues.

Ok well that sounds positive, especially for a tire designed to see some off road duty. How many miles did you get out of them?

Not sure on the miles, I run two sets of tires, so swapping them back and forth. Also, ended up chewing up two of the tires when my front end alignment went out on a long trip. I would guess maybe 30K miles on and off-road.

I have these on my FJ. They handle just fine in the rain, never had any problems. Got 25K on the truck and they still have 50+% tread left. Truck doesn't see much off road action. I go everytime that I can, but with work it's not that often, maybe once or twice a month. I'm actually getting new tires soon and will be trying to sell mine if you're interested. Won't be right away though. just a thought
I recommend them as a great AT tire.

That's not too bad for a lot of mixed on and off road use. I would hope to get around 30-40k miles on them also, I've read that some people get even more than that.

I looked up Goodyear Tracker 2's to possibly buy an extra one and swap out the old spare but they are only sold at Wal-Mart. In any case, I don't want these crappy tires at all anymore.
And thanks for the offer about your tires! I will consider it, but more than likely I will buy new.

I really wish the previous owner of my truck had bought BFG KO's or something decent, but they went the cheap route. I hear you on the crappy tires. you get what you pay for. Fortunately these tires came stock on my fj. I'm not a proprieter of mud, I have been it it a couple of times. That's how you break stuff (can't afford that on my daily driver) Anyway the BFG AT's are super slick in it. I'm not sure how you're terrain is in TX, but here in SC we are the kings of having red clay, which in a nice storm turns into some pretty thick you know what. Just a thought for your pondering.
I'm sure you'll be happy with them though, they are a great tire
Good luck

i love them. they have good wet weather traction (i live in southern california, so i dont see much rain.. but when it rains here.. it pours. also, since it only rains every once in a while.. when it rains, the oil from the road all comes up and makes the road very slippery.. the bfgs handle it great).
i think that bfg has the best all terrain tire.. they have excellent traction in a variety of terrains. they also have a good footprint when aired down. the only downside is that they are very thin walled, so i have punctured 2 already. as for tread life.. i have about 20k on them with about 70% tread life left.

Wow, you know that is really interesting. You would think a narrower tire would resist hydroplaning better? I'm planning on going with 265/75R16 or 265/70R16.

X I beat you.
I've had 5 sets on 4 different trucks. Yes I'll buy them again. Best mileage was about 65k and I still sold them with 7/32 inch tread left. The compound does seem to get harder after a couple years use, which compromises wet traction. But for the first couple years (and maybe 30-50k miles) it is definitely very good on road manners. Are there better street tires? Of course, and there are better off road (mud) tires too. But I think its a tough combination to beat. You get what you pay for.
BTW: I have Nitto terra-grapplers on my F350. They're slightly quieter and are wearing quite well. If you off-road less then I'd consider those as well.

That's gotta be a little unsettling that your BMW tires hydroplane so easily, how much tread is left on them?
