Guys,

Hope this is not a dumb question so here goes:

I haven't seen this topic discussed. For a 5 speed, manual transmission, do you need to flush it w/ one of those t-tech machines that Gadget recommends for auto transmissions?

I don't have my service manuals on me so I'm throwing this out to the experts.

no need for anything fancy, just drain and refill. If you're paranoid, you could drain/refill a few days later to ensure you flushed the crud out, but no gadgets necessary.

I second Chris. Just make sure your fill plug will loosen then drain into a pan and refill to the level of the fill hole.

The T-Tech is strictly an ATX (auto) flush machine.

I concur.

 

Gear oil is expensive. I couldn't afford to use 2x the oil on every change, and I am paranoid. Also its a smelly messy job. Once is enough per year. Don't forget to clean the "gear dust" off of the magnetic drain plug. If you find suspiciously large nuggets in the dust or half a C-clip or something then its time to worry.
