Cool auto trans to manual trans???

I have been kicking around the idea of swapping my auto trans out to a manual. How hard is it? And does anybody know around how much it would cost? I would only buy used parts from say a pick and pull.

Thanks

Hardest part is making it work with the ECU. I havent looked into that part much but as far as the swap parts...

Youll need a new or used tranny R150F for a V6 or R151F with use of the R150f bellhousing (R151F has a bit lower gearing)

You can get the clutch parts all from marlin crawler and all you have to do after that is put in the pedal assy. from a 4runner or truck for that matter and plum the lines.

Its real easy to put one in but I just dont know what the mod is to make it work with the Auto ECU

kinda but youd need to swap ECU's also to do that and then also.

There is a way to make the Auto ECU work for this. My understanding is that you have to trick the ECU to think the the truck is in neutral.

Search a bit more I know this topic has been covered. the actual swap is easy its just the wiring portion I havent dug into

could go to 4.88 but I would hold off till you go bigger tires than 32's. 33's yeah and bigger its really going to help you. You dont have to but it would hurt to.

Im still working on mine so cost wise the cost is endless IMO

Check out my build and others and youll see whats all involved.
Of course I think everyone should do there own work but thats not always possible. For this type of work though I would always suggest even if you dont have the skills now... Learn it and DIY Youll be much happier in the end.

Good luck and search more cause youll find all the answers here and on the web

You shouldn`t have to change the computer or the wiring harness. I know that when my 86 4Runner was swapped from auto to manual all that was done to the wiring was to unplug the transmission computer and bypass the neutral saftey switch, and everything else worked fine.

Price varies everywere! Parts from marlin under 100 and new tranny from $100 to rebuilt Go here http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/tra...ansmission.htm

Everything you will need for the swap just about is here.

I like that comment myyota. Makes sence tat that could be how. If thats hows its done, its pretty simple!
