v6 3.0L 3vz

Hello, im getting a rebuilt 3vz engine and i was wondering how do i fully get more HP out of it?

ive been reading some of these threads and it seems like everyone likes the 22re alot more then the 3vz engines, mainly because you can do alot more to it?

i will be sticking with the 3vz engine but i was wondering how to get more out of the engine besides headers and a throttle body?

also 1 more question what does it mean when people say 1st gen 2nd gen...meaning the beginning years of when the truck came out? thanks

everyone likes the 22re because it rarely has problems, unlike the 3.0. also, theres not much you can do to a 3.0 for performance other than intake, exhaust, and i believe cams.

A popular saying around here is that having a souped up 3.0 is like having the shiniest trash can on the block.

By the time you spend enough money to see any sort of appreciable gain, you might as well have done an engine swap.

Yup, I got way more power out of my 3.0 by having it pulled and a 2RZ put in its place. I am taking it home on Friday!!!

Too many HG problems, bad mpg, not enough power.
Also not so much aftermarket support

If you rebuild it, just install headers and leave the rest stock.

Seems like the earlier 3VZE engines hold up better then the later ones. Mine is a 89 and still running strong at 250k and pulling 17-19mpg. The 22re also has its head gasket problems, but it is a easier engine to work on, so people don't seem to mind replacing them. I've seen people getting 350k out of their 3VZE blocks. If I had to get another truck, I would get one with a 3.0 again. Though not much, the extra power it does make is nice to have.

I have a 93 with a 3VZE in it that was rebuilt at 350,000km and it still runs fine. Not sure how it ran before it was rebuilt though. 8P
