newbie-89 hilux

I just joined up with yotatech...
here's some pic's of my
1989 Toyota Hilux Double cab 2.8Liter Diesel

Truck is sitting on Trail gear 5" lift with 35"x12.5" Goodyear MTR's, TRD E-Lockers Front and Rear with 5.29 Yukon Gears, Bilstien 12" travel Shocks.
Front Bumper was a custom bumper with stinger bar.
Trail Gear Rock Sliders.
Rear Bumper is custom built.

Truck is currently in the body shop for repairs after this happened to it. Car turned left into me when i had right of way. Hit his car and then a poll head on.

It's been 6 months in the shop. it's finally getting close but don't know when it will be done. Waiting for a new hood and fenders. The genious's at the shop ordered a hood and fender for a '89 4runner. I had to tell them they ordered the wrong stuff and order parts for a '89 pickup. I have to take some new pics of it because work has been done to it such as, new rad support, frame straightening, new front springs, in front axle housing, new rad, new a/c, new power steering pump, new water pump, clutch fan, and shroud.
Unfortunately it will have a stock bumper on it untill i can either buy one or get one built.

that there is the exact reason i like to have a STRONG front bumper on my rigs...im about to have to find a nice lookin strong one for my '86..its got a WUSSSSSSY bumper on it right now..and its bent..and looks fugly..if you would have had a burly warn bumper..i dont think the damage would have been that bad...still would have been bad..but not as bad as that...

the problem with having lots of armor is if you get in a wreck your more likely to encounter frame damage.. i still agree on having armor though my babys all wrapped up in steel tubing

Thanks for all the comments.

I have to put the stock bumper on the truck for awhile. Thinking about getting an ARB Bumper for a 89' pickup. the bumper i had was a custom tube bumper. my left fram rail did bend a bit. and of course a new front cross member got welded in. the frame has been straightened, you can't even tell where it bent and dented in a bit. but hitting a tellephone poll at like 40km/h head on is gunna do some damage regardless off what bumper you have. but i deffinately want a steel plate and tubular combo such as an ARB. any other suggestions?

i'll get some motor shots up.

here's a couple more pics.

new hood and fender painted and installed

and a few of my motor. 2.8L Diesel

from right side

center

from left side

motor is pretty much untouched except for a K&N drop in filter. and a new stainless muffler.

took me a bit to source something by taking a couple measurements and cross referencing at lord-co. turns out the filter is for a 1985 Toyota Supra 2.8Liter.

k&n part # E-2487

Nice truck man, sucks that it had to get smucked. Looks like the bodyshop is doing a pretty good job. Where are you getting it done?

You should get the Warn bumper...

aviator; thanks for comment

jay351; 1500 for the warn? wow... that's why i think i'm leaning towards an ARB $1200 at North Shore Off Road. plus it has the triple loop to protect the headlights and corner lights.

Well, not exactly 1500 but very close. We always get shafted on those kinda things up here.

I would just go custom, it would be cheaper and you would get exactly what you want....

Awesome dual cab man, I have a similar one, except in white with the 22R.

I didn't know they had RHD Hilux's in Canada. Sweet.
