Clutch/flywheel question

Clutch/flywheel question
So I shot from the hip when purchasing parts to swap my motor and figured I may as well swap the clutch flywheel and pressure plate while the motor was out of the truck. So I bought an excedy kit off of EBAY thinking I would be set. I looked at the kit again today for no reason other then boredom and noticed that it says the flywheel is only good for 89-95 2wd trucks and 89-92 4wd. I have a 94 4wd truck, but the motor and tranny I am using came from an 87. I assume then that the kit will work but before I install it I would like to know if I am correct.
Oh, and now that I think about it is there anything special I need to do to swap the older transmission into the truck or should everything bolt up?

I as well thought that was a state by state law. I am also not worried though because my dad does NY state inspections for me and at the same time on the 94 it is just a safety inspection so they only check out lights, brakes and whatnot. So thank you for the warning, and Ill watch my back for the legal problems I may run into.
Back to the original issue, it is a 22re motor, I just looked at the old and new flywheel side by side and did not see any real difference, Im going to examine the clutch and flywheel tonight, what should I look for in order to tell if they are the same or different. Thanks

a 22re is a 22re there is little to nothing they changed on the blocks the only difference u might have is the vac lines and or some plugs and as far as the clutch and flywheel are concerned im pretty sure its all the same

Fred. How are they able to tell? Do they go off the engine case numbers? As far as i knew, as long as the engine is in the same family. and has the same evap system it should be ok. I would think a 22re swapped with a 22re should be just fine. especially if its an older engine into a newer vehicle, that older/"dirtier" engine is going to be held to the newer/higher/cleaner emissions standard of the newer model vehicle.
again, im no expert on the issue. but i do have a friend who is a certified CA smog tech and i think this might be a question ill ask him.
