where is the best place to get some 1.5" ball joint spacers..im thinking about getting 1.5" BJ spacers in the front..with a slight crank on the torsions and probably a 2"lift spring in the rear...1986 4x4 extra cab pickup...31"10.50" swampers rub in the front at the back of the fender at full lock...and the rear end sags BAD...its riding on the overloads..and its rough as hell front and rear...thanks for your help!

I'm looking for bj spacers myself. Downey sell a 3" leaf spring. I'd like to replace my add a leaf with the downey kit. but if you find some bj spacers, pass iton.

 

have searched a little..found some info..seems like 4crawler is the only place i've found them at...anybody got any for sale???...need to be 1.5" bj spacers..dont want any bigger than that..or some 2.5 or 3" rear leaf springs for 84-88 yota 4x4's...

From reading your post, it sounds like you are on the path to destroying your steering and eliminating any IFS flex.

 

i've never heard of anybody having any steering problems with BJ spacers..i dont need much flex..im not rockcrawling..its going to be my DD and my muddin toy...its never going to see anything worse than about 1 1/2ft of mud..i just want to lift it a little bit so the swampers dont rub in the front..and it rides alot smoother..thats all i want...i would do a bracket lift..but i dont want to go any bigger than a 31x10.50..although i might regear and go to 33x10.50's or 33x12.50's in the future..but not anytime soon..i have money..and i dont have to pay for this truck..as it will be my dads truck too...if i was wanting to get flamed..i would have went to pirate..im just trying to find some bj spacers..im getting procomp springs in the rear..if i want flex..then i'll SAS it..but i dont want that much flex.so BJ spacers and new rear springs will do for now...and btw thanks for the link..SDORI is what i was looking for

The stock toy IFS setup has the upper and lower arms parallel (the upper and lower arms are equal length) and are separated the same distance vertically at the pivot points at the chassis and at the spindles. The 'tie-rod' ends are also parallel with the a-arms and should be close to the same length as the a-arms. That means that, in stock form, the steering angles move in such a way that camber, caster and toe do not appreciably change from full droop to full compression.
Installing the BJ spacers increases the distance between the ends of the a-arms but does not increase the distance between the pivot points of the a-arms or tie-rod ends thus causing the steering knuckle to rotate in the horizontal plane (and thus the camber, caster and toe changes) as the wheel travels from full extension to full compression.

edit- I knew what I was trying to say as I typed it, but don't know if it came out the way I meant....

 

Installing the BJ spacers causes the upper and lower control arms to become obtuse... no longer parallel, which was designed by the factory.
In addition, by pushing the lower arm down at the wheel, the steering links are pushed down as well, so they are no longer parallel as well.
