How Much Play is normal in front CV Shafts?
I noticed today that the front passenger side cv shaft will slide back and forth (from diff to wheel) about 1/2 to 3/4 inch when i grab it and move it back and forth (in and out of the diff). Drivers sides seems to only move 1/8 inch. Is this normal?

yeah - this just seems wierd - the entire shaft moves in and out about 1/2 inch...like inside the boots. Went wheeling last weekend and got on it a little hard in one spot when my locker switch wasn't working. This is an aftermarket CV. Hmmm. Gonna take it into the shop - the suy who hsa replaced both my cv shafts said that's not normal at all...

But it was a lifetime warranty axle so - it's free replacement.

Well, I'm saying i was in a tough spot and since my locker wasn't working, I had to use a little more throttle than i would have needed if i was locked - so therfore i think i spun the wheels and heard a lound bang - but didn't think it was a CV as it wasn't ripped open and spewing grease like I've seen others.
