May be gettin a 4x4
Well depending on the guys dealing, I may be getting a 4x4.
1985 Xtra Cab, EFI (yay), Long bed (is this possible with XC?). I test hopped it and it seemed to drive wonderful, no problems.
It has some surface rust, paint's crap, and a vacuum leak (makes cold idle a tad rough, not to the point of dying, just rough, easily fixed I'm sure). The interior is not perfect, no radio, carpet's mostly gone, usual stuff wore out. It has a reconstructed title, but that doesn't bother me as I'm not into reselling to make money.
However, the engine runs great (esp. when warm), the 4x4 works, hubs are easy to turn, all gears work, shifts smooth, seat is great, interior matches (tan color), and it recently had maintenance done (paperwork to prove it), I'm not 100% sure what it was, but I know it was a full tune-up along with a new t-stat I think, I'll check.
Also It has a 4" suspension lift and bigger tires (forgot to check, dangit)
Now I have a few questions-
What MPG will I get? I'm averaging 28 in the 2wd, I could deal with 15-20, much less and I'm screwed.
What are some things to look for?
The guy is getting back to me on price, so I'll let you know. It sounded like he was going to sell it for cheap, though.

There was never a 4x4 XC LB.
There WAS a 2wd Extra Cab long bed, and them suckers were LONG.
I get 18-22mpg in my 86 4Runner, which is pretty much the same thing. The lift and tires will kill your mileage a little bit tho.

He shouldn't swear lol
Unless its been converted, its just not possible. Toyota never built an Xcab 4x4 with a 7ft bed.
Sometimes looks can be deceiving, and the extra cab can make the bed look longer than it is.

There was a builder here in Canada that did some conversions .. dont remember who .. but they did quite a few X-cab LONGbox 4X4's ..
as deathcougar says , they were NOT a "Toyota factory " built truck .. but they are out there .
I have been wanting to build one for quite a while now .. and after I get my current projects done .. it will be next .
