Help with my upgrades for my new yota
I've had my '84 Yota for a year now and i want to make some upgrades to it. I have done work to it but do not know how or where to do/get any of the following info. Thanks to whoever can help!
Here is what i'm thinking:
- Spray on bed liner
- Power Steering
- Small lift
- New exhaust system
Does anyone know the best place to get a spray on bed liner? Or is do it yourself a better way to go? Also, how much would it cost me to install my own power steering? I replaced the head gasket on my truck earlier along with some other things so taking apart the engine isnt a problem. As far as the lift goes, I know nothing about it or what tires/wheels sets i could get. And as far as exhaust, I just want something that will make it sound a bit beefier.
The real problem here is where and how much i could get/do all of this work for. Can anyone help with pricing and places?
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

All of that is relatively simple stuff. The power steering is the most difficult.
Rhino Liner is the best spray-in bed liner. But you pay for what you get.
The lift is easy, there are several ways to go about that, depending upon preference and use. Tires are also easy. If you do a search on here, you can find all the info you want on tire fitment and lifts.
New Exhaust to sound beefier won't really help much. It's a 22r or 22re (depending upon if it's EFI or not) and they just don't get much beefier sounding. lol Also depending on where and what state your in, you can go with different exhausts. Mostly limited by SMOG Regulations.

thank you for the help! One more question tho. Got any recommendations or personal favorites on a place (online included) to get good cosmetic replacements for the truck, like handles, bumpers, bash guards, etc?

i was looking at lifts and then i started to wonder, is it even worth doing a small lift (lets say two inches or so?) Because i wanna put some bigger wheels and tires on her, but i dont know if i need the lift. Is it better to do tires then the lift, or lift then the tires? And is one lift type better than the other? spring vs. coil, etc.?

Your lifting your '84 Yota, right? Then unless your planning on doing a complete re-design and build, then your still going to be running leaf springs all the way around.
There are different lift options though; Body and Suspension. There are a couple different types of suspension lifts. Complete arched spring lift (which is what I'm running), Shackles (which I've added on the front to level), add a leaf and blocks.
Body lifts only lift the body off the frame, which works to increase clearance for tires (to some extent) but isn't always the best option. Personally I like suspension lifts.
How much bigger are you thinking of going with your tire size? Stock your on 29s or so. I run upto 31s without any lift. But I put 33s after I lifted it 4 or more inches.
An '84 looks pretty decent with just 31s and stock height. But with a slight lift, 2" or so, they can look better. With a 2" kit, you can maybe run 32's. But I think you need more for those.
You also have to keep in mind that when you go to larger tires, you are increasing your gearing. The taller the tires, the higher the gearing.
I'm running 33's right now and i'm about 14% over on gearing. But my old 31's were only about 10% over and did great. With the 33's I'm too high geared and get worse mileage, don't climb hills on the road very well and really can't use 5th gear much. To correct this issue, I need to regear my axles from the stock 4.10s to 4.88s.

what do you recommend for suspension packages, something like a rancho package that would be made for the truck so i dont have to piece it all together? And as far as exhaust, do you recommend a flow muffler, borla or what? I just want a good sound because i know a four banger cant produce a v8 sound...
