Unique Exhaust

ok..so after a LONG wait (over 3 months because of my front driveshaft sheering in half) i finally got my exhaust the way i like it...but im still getting everything right..because they are even...or straight...im still trying to get them bent the way i like em!...try not to flame me too much guys...i really like them and they serve their purpose well (keeping my exhaust out of the water)..here ya go!

yes yes yes i know water will get in my exhaust when it rains...andybody know of any ways to prevent that..(other than getting a normal exhaust)

Well here's an idea for you... Old school big rigs had flat top pipes. (tips not angled like yours) Most of them had a hinge on the top with a flat round metal plate. It was thin enough of a plate that when the engine was running the plate would "open up" and exhaust could exit. and with engine off, the plate would lie flat and keep out rain water.

If I can find a pic I will post it up for you.

you should be able to find those flappers at any truck stop. Though not my favorite type of exhaust on a pick up, especially not a diesel, that actually looks kind of cool.

Time to update your avatar

random thought but you might want to come up with some kind of cover in the bed to keep stuff from melting if it gets too close to your exhaust

Just carry some cans of some sort to pop over the top when it rains. When your driving there shouldn't be a problem...like diesels...lol

Looks pretty sweet though

I think it looks pretty cool... that's what everybody is trying to get me to do to my 82, i would like to hear what it sounds like, i had the turbo mufflers on my ford and they sounded like the flowmasters, the only thing was that they only lasted a longer than a year due to it rusting through

yes im going to build a box out of Black Diamondplate alluminum..that will keep stuff away from them...im going to try to find some bigger ones...the stacks are 3.5in right now...im thinking of trying to find some 4", 4.5", or 5" stacks..because without the stacks the exhaust is more ricey...so im thinking with a lil bit bigger stacks..it will be a tad deeper...thanks for all the input guys...yea im thinkin about getting flappers..or making some...but it will have to be THIN...because the little 20R doesnt flow much exhaust...its not fast or anything...so idk if it will be able to lift up with flaps...o well...i'll try a few things...thanks again..keep the comments coming!

if we still hard our '02 dodge diesel 4x4...it would have 4in exhaust with dual 7in stacks...but i will not ever go any bigger than about 4.5 hopefully...at least not until i drop a diesel into the '80 then it'll get some 5 or maybe even 6in stacks..i despise people who put fart cans on their yota...it sounds childish...just like the no exhaust sound...my '80 sounded like a pissed off bumble bee when i just had the header on it..and it had NO torque...now i gots some torque to spare....im still tryin to figure out how to get a camera hooked up to this damn computer

pour some oil down the stacks and it will look like a diesel. also you can drop a plastic bottle done it and shoot it out when you rev the engine. good fun.

so how high do you get from all the exhaust fumes coming into the cab? i do like the look though.... if you had tips that were bent or slash cut you would not need flaps and it might direct the fumes behind you, especially when moving.
