wiper arms...

the blade mount that has the two screws that attaches it to the arm is fubar on mine so i can't change out the blades, so i figured i'd get new ones from the stealership. they must be gold plated because they want $62...... A PIECE!!!

so i figure i'd try ebay, but i find no listing for wiper arms before 84, only 84-88. are they the same, or at least interchangeable? i can't imagine there would be much difference, but maybe they changed the linkages and the arms are a different length or something. anyone know for sure?

The splined shafts are different, the early style uses a small shaft with a nut holding the arm on. the new style uses a much larger splined shaft without the nut. nobody make the arms aftermarket (Anco,Trico) so your stuck going to the dealer. I have a set of adapters that will make the new arms work with the smaller shafts (you do have to drill the arm for the stud) but I haven't tried them yet.

Al: Check some of the U Pull it's around town. there have been a ton of 1st Gen 2WD and 4WD trucks showing up lately. I was at the Tigard (more like sherwood) off 99W on Monday and there were 4-5 trucks there. Might get lucky...$62 WOW!?!?!?!

I threw some of those out when I did a big cleanup after my build, Probably a bad idea? I got the ones that are on my truck off a parts truck at a junkyard for free, I took them because they had nice wiper blades on them.

Go to www.partstrain.com and you can get complete new wiper blades from 8.00 to 21.00 dollars depending on which ones you buy and they come with new screws also. Ive bought two sets and they seem to be good quality.
