installation of a frantz oil filter onto my 4runner

the advantages are 1) cleans oil constantly 2) no droping of the oil, just top off the oil when you change the filter element, which is 1qt. 3) saving the cost of a complete oil change and full flow filter at whatever intreravel(sp) also the filter elements for the frantz are about $.50 4) added oil cappacity of your system. 5) better for the environment, cause your not using as much oil as you do when you replace your entire oil in the pan.
now the disadvantages 1) plumbing of an external filter i.e. might leak . 2) finding a place to mount that is element change friendly thats about all i can think of right now.
please note that this unit is for clean oil continously as opposed to the drop the dirty oil in 3k or whatever mileage you drop at. dont let the word toilet fool you, the paper DOES NOT break down in the oil and have been proven so in lab test also it has been awarded an STC from the FAA which, if any of you know how the FAA works, is really tough on the gadgets that are thought up to be put on aircraft. obviously i'm sold on this type filtration

Well, I don't know much about this type of stuff (haven't even done my own oil change yet, but going to this weekend
), but I don't totally understand how this thing works... It uses engine oil pressure to run the oil through the filter, and it uses toilet paper as a filter element? Then it replaces the oil back in through the oil cap as your pic shows. Where does it pick up the oil? You basically don't have to change your oil anymore, just top it off? what about the traditional oil filter? Sorry about all the questions, just curious and intrigued

how it works is it flows through the center of the tube then it flows the opposite direction trought the roll of tissue thus filtering out the contaminates. and as far as gadget using it i think the use of TP is what ids keeping most folks from using it. not to mention you have the mindset of the amsoil guys and then there are the other oil users
just a quik jab at ya gadget
it picks up the oil in various places mine is at the plug just below the oil press sender. it can also come from a sandwich adapter. putting it back into the system is a matter of preferance i choose not to punch a hole into my oil pan, so the only option for me was to route it into the filler cap.
