please help me read my engine code flashes

I would guess its 71 because my car feels overheated but my temp gauge reads normal

also give me tips on how to fix the problem

That is a 71 and it just keeps repeating until you remove the jumper wire or the code is cleared.

 

71- EGR gas temperature below pre-determined level during EGR operation or open EGR gas temp sensor signal.
Caused by:
EGR valve
EGR hose
EGR gas temp. sensor circuit (wiring)
EGR gas temp sensor
VSV for the EGR circuit
ECU

Its probably the sensor but you need to take the EGR valve off and clean it out. It should slide smoothly if you push the valve up from the bottom, also clean the EGR vacuum modulator it has a small filter in it. The sensor is likely the issue you can try cleaning it sometimes it gets dirty, or you can push a 10k ohm resistor into the connector going to the temp sensor. This tricks the ECU into getting a good reading and will keep the code from returning.
