So, yesterday i was working on my friends 94 4runner with the 3.0 v6. took the timing cover off and it turns out the head gaskets weren't the only thing wrong. look at this timing belt! huge cracks throughout the whole thing! how lucky can you be?!

Break one on a 3.0 and all that happens is that it leaves you stranded somewhere.

22r/re's = timing CHAINS are interference....trust me on this!
3.0's = timing BELTS are definitely NOT interference. There's several threads wherein belts broke and peoples went nowheres. Motor was fine, though.

Exactly. 3.0's you can spin around as much as you want without the tbelt and not hurt a thing. 22r is a different story

from my exprience the 22r is interferance, however you can get lucky, i had a chain break at low rpm and the cam stopped in a completly nutral position, where all the valves were out of the way. i also had one break at 2800rpm......and wasnt so lucky
