I have a 1st gen 4runner and am looking at the way people have mounted their hi-lift jacks. I know all about 4crawler's mount, but am looking for other ideas. I want something that mounts inside the cargo area, but don't have any ideas of how to mount it...

 

Before I did the roll bar mount, I slid my jack up over the wheel well and then used a ratchet strap to tie it to the roll bar base. Left room for my camping and wheeling gear in storage boxes. Wasn't the easiest place to get to on the trail, though, usually had to slide the one box out to get to the strap. Nice thing with the roll bar mount is it is easy to get to, even when packed and takes no tools to take the wing nut off:






I think a 48" jack can go across the back of the rear seat, if you never fold that down (I use a 60" jack).

While I had my old rear bumper, I used the HiLift mounting studs on the rear tire carrier. It was a little too low (jack was the first thing to drag in back) and it took a wrench to remove the nuts holding it in place:

 

I may just have to order your setup...why mess with something that works.

 

i have mine mounted the same way on the roll bar...home made, cost me about $15 in hardware...the only downfall is having 3 poeple sit in the back, someone has to sit next to the hi-lift...good thing i never have a truck full of that many poeple

 

I don't even have a backseat.

 

i hear ya on that one...the reason i keep my back seats in is for sperating the cargo area from the rest ofthe truck....when i pack for a trip the cooler, and food stuff gets belted down on the back seats and the rest tid down in the cargo area....now i just need a rear tire carrier to get that trie out of there
