looking for a Sport Hood for 3rd gen 4Runner

So, I was looking around for a sport hood for my 3rd gen, and found this site:

Auto Body Parts Online
1999-2002 4Runner Sport Hood for $131
Toyota Part# 53301-35050

Click on the picture to see the website:

My question is, has anybody ordered from this company before, and do they think I'm getting a quality hood for the price? The VIS carbon Fiber hoods are over $800 bucks, just a little too expensive for a Sport Hood.

Seems like a good price. But look at the shipping. It said $107 + handling (whatever extra that is) for my zip code. At that price, I'd try to wait for a sport hood to pop up at a local junk yard. At least you will have a guaranteed OEM fit.

BTW, weren't you trying to sell your 4Runner? Rig was sick. Hope you decided to keep it.

I ran into a similar situation with certiifit, i believe it comes only with the shell, you're going to end up having to pay for the rest of the parts to finish it off (rest of scoop, insert, etc). i think everyone's best bet is the junkyard sorry to say man

I called and they quoted me $255.13 shipped for a hood w/scoop. Guy said it came with everything for the scoop but find that hard to believe. Either way, I think thats just too much for an after-market hood.

I wonder where they're located? Did you happen to ask, rocket? Maybe a local member can go and check it out/take some pics.

I got my hood from ranchotoyotatruck here on the board. Its a brand new aftermarket primered hood minus the insert. It was $150. I live nearby so I just picked it up. I got the insert and everything it needs for about $125 my cost. If you look around, alot of dealers will get you around that price for an online deal. I got it painted at a bodyshop my work deals with alot so they did it for $200. All in all it was about $500 total. I sold my stock hood for $50 so that helped out too. If you want brand new, this is the way to go. other than that, you will be waiting for a good used hood

Try car-part.com

There are several of these hoods all over the USA, but mostly southern states for some reason.

Just got mine for 2bills brand new off of ebay. 89 for the hood, the rest is shipping. It didn't come complete, but i am aware and was still thinking of how to make it functional. I know the extra parts for the insert will cost me around 100 or so, but i figure i'll get an online discount when i do decide.

I'm just gonna have it LineX'd anyway so getting it painted is no big deal. It came well shipped and primed ready to mount.

Nice call, there's one just over a hundred miles from me. Pending condition it sounds like a road trip.

First time I called was around 5pm. A broken English operator said they were in Carson, CA. I then inquired about the price ONLY. After the quote, his following reply was: "ok, we have the hood for you, is there anything else you want to add to your order?"
I never ordered anything!
For the first 4-5 seconds, I could hear numerous people talking to others via phone in the back ground. It sounded like a telemarketers reunion.

I called back again around 9pm (couldn't believe they answered) and found myself talking to another broken English guy.

Simplified conversation went like this...
I asked about their return policy, "If the part don't fit, can i return it?"
Him: "Sure".
"Who pays for shipping it back?"
Him: "You would sir"
"so if the part fits incorrectly and is defective, do I still pay for return shipping?"
Him: Well it depends, but you'll get a 100% refund for the part.

Him: I could tell he was getting upset.

Still trying....
"So if i'm not satisfied with the part fitting like OEM, do you pay for return shipping?"
Him: "if WE determine something is wrong with part, we give full refund."

He never gave a clear answer about their return-shipping policy and even changed the policy as I asked more questions.

Just for kicks I asked for a second time, "where are you located?"
This time I get a run-around answer...
Him: "We're all over and have 12 distribution centers in the country"
(not what the last guy said)
Do you guys have a store or warehouse where customers can see your parts?
Him: "no we don't but you can try"
Where is your companies headquarters or main office located?
Him: Carson, CA
I heard the same telemarketing in the background with the first operator as did with the 2nd.
"ok, thank you for your time"
Believe it or not, his immediate reply was...
Him: "can i proceed with your order now?"

They have severl websites actually, i had a conversation just like Rockets above when i called about a hood the other day from ANOTHER website.

I think it is one of those massive places that uses tons of websites with differnt names but the same company and mail orders everything.

In my case they wanted $110 for the hood but $250 for the shipping! I know that hoods can be shipped for under $150 easy, usually under $100.
