I have a '90 SR5 'Runner. Power door locks. Is the tailgate supposed to be powered too? Only works manually, which is fine, but I was wondering.

 

No, no power lock on the tailgate. It will only unlock, manually, when the rear window is completely down.

 

I was looking on this forum to try to figure out why the manual lock on the tailgate window wouldn't unlock once I installed the replacement motor (found on ebay by the way for $50 with free shipping and one year warranty). After looking for an hour or so I went back to tinkering and found that my door handle had two screws that weren't tightened down all the way. Once I did that, worked like a champ. Just in case someone has the same problem...('91 4Runner V6 4x4...378,000 miles and counting)
