89 3.0 no start has spark havent changed anything
My 89 yota will not start it was running great and then one day it wouldnt start in my driveway. It recently got new plugs wires cap and rotor. Its getting spark at all the plugs and I know the fuel pump works and is getting fuel to the rails. But I cant get it to start. I got it to start once after playing with the efi fuse and some other fuses(none of which were blown.) I had the truck give me an Ign switch code I believe a little while ago. I cleared it and it never re-occured. Ive tried cleaning electrical connectors and it doesn't make a difference. Occasionally while trying to start it it will kick then just go back to dead cranking. Is it possible there is a bad ground or a key switch problem? The Haynes manual I have doesn't tell me crap. Ive searched and found a few similar threads but they all seem to have been abandoned with no answers on them. Sorry for the long winded post.

if you managed to get spark for a moment, try jiggling wires to find a short.
the hall effect sender in the distributor could have failed. this happens with these engines. in such case the entire dist must be replaced.
check battery connections.

The IGN code is not the ignition switch, but the IGN signals from the distributor. What is the code number? Try cranking the engine again for a few seconds so that a code can register in the ECM. If you have the FSM (or can view it online), go through the troubleshooting procedure for the distributor.

Thanks for the replies. I havent had access to the internet for a while. Im still having problems with it. Its always getting spark even when it wont start. It will start when the engine is cold and once it has run for 2 minutes or more and I turn it off it will not restart. Its as if once it gets a tiny bit of heat in the motor it wont start again. I cant figure it out. Its not throwing any codes when it is running. Im thinking about yanking the plenum and changing the coolant temp sensors and crap on the back of the manifold.
