Okay, after talking with John at IPT, I've got the deal of a lifetime for the valve body upgrade. I don't know why I'm doing this, but I guess I'm just a nice guy, just like all the rest of the folks on this forum that have helped me so much. So here's the details:

1) We need 10 or more people to get the special discounted price
2) You can discuss & choose how you want it to shift with John
3) You'll remove the valve body, and mail it to IPT for modifications
4) IPT will mail it back to you, and you'll reinstall and refill fluids

That's it! And, here's the special price: ONLY $399!!

So, I'm going to help John compile the folks that want to get it done. After we have 10 or more folks that want the modification, all communications will be between you and John. I just agreed to help him get the word out.

All I know is that it's $300 cheaper than Level 10, and I won't go into how I feel it's just as good or better. John is great, and very easy to work with. I was extremely impressed with his work while I was at his shop. He's very professional, and has been doing tranny work for practically his whole life. John's normal price for doing this upgrade, which is basically cutting an hours worth of labor on each one. This is a deal, and you better act fast! If you were planning on getting it done anyway, do it now, and save big bucks!

Has anyone ever done a write up on removing the Valve body?

Also, can he do overnight shipping? How fast will turn around be? I need to rent a car while the runner is in pieces.

Shipping will be paid by you, so you can do whatever shipping you want. As far as removal, it's really easy. About 12 or so bolts on the pan, and then the bolts holding up the Valve body. Then clean it off, and mail it. It's really pretty simple, just a little messy.

Do you have any pictures? I'd hate to screw up my tranny trying to make it stronger.

Do a search for valve body or VB, and you'll find probably a couple of write ups. You have the costs right, though.

Okay, I just got good news from John at IPT. One of the things that usually costs money doing this mod is the down time of not being able to drive your 4runner while you're waiting on your VB to get back from the shop. You probably would have to rent a car, unless you have a third vehicle. So, after talking with John, he's got ONLY ONE valve body that he can do a exchange on. This way you pay him $574 upfront, he sends you the adjusted VB, you get it, remove yours, install his, and ship yours back to him, and then he'll refund your $175 core charge.

I thought that was great. Also, Creed has a used Level 10 VB for sale if anyone's interested. That would be a great deal too!
