ok i didnt think id have this problem since it ran so well and did so good comin down here from vegas. (im in san diego now). so i was driving home from working on my honda today, and my truck suddenly dies. i pulled over and popped the hood. the driver side was smoking, under the power steering canister. i was like, WTF? so i check the fusebox, thinking too much voltage went through. and the main engine fuse(the fuse by itself towards the front of the truck on the box) was blown. makes sense, okay. so i go to pull it out. wouldnt come out. so i pulled out my pliers and gently gripped it, and the plastic broke. and i STILL cant get it out! i called my buddy and he towed me back to his place, where my toolbox is. is there a special way of pulling that fuse out? ill take a pic tomorrow and post it up. im pissed!! any ideas? please help.. need to use it to get to my interview on monday.

 

oh man i wish i was still there man i would give you my truck and see if we did swap rigs i would have this now lol but yeah there is a dumbass way to get them out man i cant remember off hand but i think you have to unbolt them buddy i cant even look right now cause im 200 miles away from my girl right now but ill call my buddy and see what he says then ima call you ok man

 

You gotta take the entire fuse box out, then unscrew the wires from the bottom of the fuse, then pull the fuse out of the BOTTOM of the fuse. That is how my truck is anyway.

yeah, its a temp. fix. i soldered the 2 fuse pieces together, then put a 35amp inline fuse on the wire going from the battery to the fuse box. so its workin until my new fusebox gets here thursday or friday.

 

Haha. Do what you gotta do. Now at least you know how to do it the right way.

 

yup. man i butchered that fusebox. lol. when i get the new one an inline fuse is going on it so i dont have to mess with it again... or is it not neccessery?

 

Are you asking if the fuse is necessary? YES. Instead of frying the fuse, you would have melted the wire or started a fire. Easier to change a fuse than to find the break in the wire...unless it is on fire, than it is easy to find. Chances are if the fuse blew in the first place, something else could be already wrong. Buy 2 fuses, put one in and see what happens. If it blows, fix whatever the problem is before blowing the 3rd one.

 

Oz no mention of why the fuse cooked! Thats what I'd be worried about!!! If it did it once it's probably gonna do it again and you might not be so lucky. If your trucks like mine the alternator lives under the power steering pump.

same with mine, though ive been drivin around almost a week with a wire soldered to the 2 fuse points, and a 35amp inline fuse from the battery to the box. its runnin like a clock. my new fusebox should be here today or tomorrow.. and ill be keeping the 80amp fuse, and putting an inline fuse on it. id rather blow an inline than have to take the fusebox off again
