Florida hot spots

I live in Tampa Florida and do not know of anywhere to really go off-roading. I normally go to the Ocala national forest but they are pretty strict about staying on numbered trails and safety plus there is no elevation to speak of. The best you can hope for is a downed tree on the trail. I was wondering if anyone here is in Florida and knows of some good locations? Thanks

i know of a few places, but im not going to post them up on the web for fear of those tree hugging hippies finding out about them and getting them closed.

however, we do have a nice offroad park called HardRockMX out by ONF that has plenty of fun stuff to do, LOTS of elevation changes and a rock garden. people roll trucks out there all day long though so if you go be careful.

i think a couple buddies and i are going out somewhere in may though, so send me a pm and ill keep you in the loop

Yep, it's pretty much all mud holes around here in the Cocoa/Titusville area, with the exception of a few man-made hills and dug out ditches. The trails to the mud holes though are better than the actual mud holes in my opinion, because almost all of them take about 15 minutes to drive down and they're never the same, lol; there's always a tree or something fallen in the way, but my favorite is when someone in their lifted 2wd thinks that they can come down the trail and make it just with their all terrains, but they don't, and dig some good ruts at the bottom of a small incline or at the bottom of a ditch... makes things interesting, lol.

cost about 30$ a day, but one day is all you will need to do the whole course. try to go on a weekday to miss the weekend crowd

That looks purdy cool runnerup, I may have to look into that! Thanks!

I'll try to get the local Toyota group together one week and head out there... We may invite the Jeep guys too, but unlikely...

The guys in FATTShack go wheeling all the time and they have quite a few choice spots with as much or as little as you feel like getting in to. Check them out. I think they even have a run coming up.

If you want a little milder wheeling check out the Florida chapter of TTORA. They get a run organized every once in a while.

I live in Ocala and have been to Hard Rock a few times. It's a nice place to wheel for sure but it gets a little old after you go a few times. If you haven't been yet though it's a must do run.

Cheers.

You have Richloam that is above you. And a few legal trails in Croom but that is mainly for ATVs and Motorbikes

There are a few places I know of.
For mud:
L-cross ranch near the northwest side of lake okeechobee.

Plant bamboo/Underhill ranch On hwy 714 near north east side of lake O. This guy is having some problems with the local zoning or some crap like that so it's set up as a plant sale, you just need a 4wd to access the plants to look at them.

Okeechobee Mudfest This is the end all be all of mud events. Too bad they canceled the one in august.

C&R motorsports park I've never been to this one but there are some pics up to show whats it is like.

Check out some of the Wildlife management areas near you, that is where I end up going the most.
FWC website showing PDF maps of each area with regulations Pay attention to what time of year trails are open, it's listed in each properties info. I usually trail ride out at J.W.Corbett. A club in West Palm beach is having a trail ride at corbett on June 29th, anyone close should come on out.

Where and what is ONF? I'm new to the area AND the sport...I came from TN, where you could find trails pretty much in your back yard.

Just figured it out...how far is the forest from the Tampa area?
